Course Overview

This course is a 5-6 day backpacking trip that will occur over Spring Break in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of Missouri or Arkansas. The class is open to anyone of interest and will teach the basics of backpacking while at the same time strengthening already-established backcountry skills. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions, give input, and be involved in the teaching process if they so desire. Lastly, the class will be straight-out super-duper, relaxing and fun, so you should all come!

Expectations

Students must attend every pre-trip meeting and the actual trip to receive full credit for the course. A student will not pass the class if he or she does not go on the trip. Students will be expected to demonstrate competence in basic backpacking skills, which include packing a backpack, reading a map, setting up tarps, and operating camp stoves. Please note that students will not receive any type of refund if they are signed up for the class and then decide not to go on the trip (except under extenuating circumstances, e.g., for medical reasons).
